Novara Law Obtains No-Cause Verdict on $8.5 Million Demand

Congratulations to Senior Partner Marc McDonald and Senior Associate Garrett Guibord on their recent No-Cause verdict on behalf of an insurance client. This is Marc McDonald’s 18th straight successful jury verdict over the past eight years.

The case involved a catastrophically injured patient who suffered severe head injuries in an accident. The parties did not dispute his need for 24/7 care. The only issue for the jury’s consideration was whether the treatment provided to him was “lawfully rendered.” After a week-and-a-half jury trial, the jury agreed with McDonald and Guibord’s defense and found the treatment was not lawfully rendered.

The demand prior to trial was $8.5 Million. Offers of judgment were also made before trial entitling the defense to post-trial sanctions.
