Ed Pasternak has over two decades of experience specializing in several areas of multiemployer Fringe Benefit Fund work.
Overview
Ed's experience includes negotiation of health care contracts, review of investment management agreements, review and processing of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders regarding divorced participants whose retirement benefits are at stake, as well as collection work and claims/appeals litigation for the funds.
In addition, Ed has extensive experience with distressed defined benefit pension plans. He routinely works closely with plan actuaries to create and update funding improvement and rehabilitation plans, as well as evaluate permissible benefit adjustments to plans within the parameters of the Pension Protection Act (PPA) and the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act (MPRA).
He also handles the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, grievance adjustment, and filing and defense of unfair labor practice charges.
