Veteran Insurance Defense Attorney Robert Abramson Joins Novara Law
Novara, Tesija, Catenacci, McDonald, & Baas PLLC, one of southeast Michigan’s largest law firms, announces that veteran attorney Robert S. Abramson has joined the firm as a partner in the Insurance Defense group.
Abramson is the third partner-level attorney to join the firm’s Insurance team in the past 16 months. He joins longtime insurance-industry attorneys Patrick Mulcahy and Karen Libertiny Ludden on the team.
“Bob brings nearly 20 years of experience, leadership, and connections within the insurance industry, including with Fortune 500 companies,” said Michael Novara, managing partner and CEO. “We are pleased to have him join our firm and share his extensive knowledge with our team and clients.”
Abramson has built a reputation for busting open fraudulent insurance claims. He has conducted over 500 examinations under oath for numerous carriers in first-party PIP, bodily injury cases, premises liability, and major case units in fire and theft. These EUOs and subsequent declaratory judgment actions have led to the dismissal of over $10,000,000 in claims.
He has presented on fraud tactics at the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association Conference. He has also spoken at the Insurance Alliance of Michigan Conference over the last decade on such topics as fraud in the application, teaching adjusters key questions to ask on initial loss calls, and how to locate records plaintiffs don’t want you to find in PIP and BI cases.
He received his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Michigan. Before becoming a lawyer, Abramson was an award-winning journalist for seven years. He was voted the top sportswriter in Ohio for his newspaper division, covered Michigan football for five years, and co-authored a book on the 1997 national championship season. He and his wife are active supporters of Make-A-Wish Michigan.
